Richard C. Ferrer, BSN RN CHFN is an Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Nurse Coordinator of the Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Program in Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. He graduated in 2011 as Magna Cum Laude at Our Lady of Fatima University in the Philippines and subsequently, worked as a staff nurse in a Medical & Surgical Unit that caters mostly cardiovascular cases at Fatima University Medical Center and has been most interested in the fields of Heart Failure and Electrophysiology. He was then appointed as Head Nurse of the said unit after 3 years of service. He joined Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi as a staff nurse in the Cardiothoracic Unit in 2015 and has been an active member of the Heart Failure Program Committee since then. As Nurse Coordinator of the Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Program, he is responsible for the coordination of the clinical care for Heart Failure patients and also involved in the evaluation of patients being considered for advanced Heart Failure therapies such as Mechanical Circulatory Support and Heart Transplantation. He has achieved the designation as a Certified Heart Failure Nurse (CHFN) given by the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses Certification Board (AAHFN-CB) in September 2017. He is the first and currently, the only nurse outside the North America to achieve this subspecialty nursing certification.
